A phone PACKED with FEATURES.
The Samsung Behold to me is considered a high end PDA/Smart phone without the ability to edit office documents. The best thing about this phone is that it doesn’t have Window Mobile 6.1. Every time I see the window MS logo on a cell phone I just want to run for the hills. Anyways, thank goodness this is strictly Samsung. This brand is known for churning out exquisite top notch phones.
This phone is a touch screen based phone with only 3 keys on the bottom. You get a gorgeous 3 inch screen with 262K Colors where the vibrant colors just really POP. You get access to emails, 3G, Web Browser, IM, Text, Multimedia Messaging, etc. The only thing is I felt the web browser was limited. You have a 3 inch screen and Samsung should really take advantage of it and have it take up the entire screen. If you’re on YouTube you get to watch the videos but even when in full screen mode it doesn’t take up the whole screen. Of course nothing beats the iPhone’s Safari Browser. I must admit the Google Android G1 phone on T-Mobile comes pretty close to being a flawless browser. Despite the touch screen I feel it didn’t flow as fluid as the G1 and iPhone did but great nonetheless. I’ve only had the phone for 1 day. I will test it out more and revise my review. I think the haptic feedback makes me feel the phone isn’t operating as responsive as it should because I really don’t need the device to vibrant whenever I confirm a selection. The 3G browser just recently launched with T-Mobile so don’t expect it be spectacular but it does operate just fine.
There’s a 5.0 megapixel camera (About Time!) with built in FLASH. And it also functions as a camcorder. The device can accept up to 16GB on the micro SD. The back of the phone literally looks like a digital camera. I’ve also noticed that almost every Samsung phone on T-Mobile sound awfully LOW even when on the highest volume. But this phone turned up all the way sounds just fine. I wouldn’t recommend this phone to anyone who doesn’t live in a major city because T-Mobile isn’t known for impeccable & flawless reception unless you’re in a major city. If you’re in a huge metropolis that houses many signal towers you shouldn’t have any issues. Where T-Mobile is now is where AT&T use to be 8 years ago.

I have been on the T-Mobile network since the summer of 2005 (started with T-Mobile’s pay-as-you-go phones for 2 1/2 years, then switched to a 2 yr contract in 2007). I have no complaints about service or coverage (well, I don’t pay the bills or anything but…) so I think it’s a pretty good company. My first contract phone was the Samsung t629, a slider phone. Before that, I had the Samsung Stripe and a Nokia bar phone. I’ve had a good experience with Samsung cell phones. That’s what led to my decision to buy the Behold. I’ve wanted a touch screen for a long time, and it was a cheaper option than the G1 and mytouch phones (plus I don’t use the web on my phone, so I didn’t need that feature). The T-Mobile Tap recently came out, but I opted for the Behold because I preferred its sleeker design, plus it’s a Samsung so I understand the menus, etc. I also preferred the Behold over the Samsung Highlight because the Highlight is too thick for me.
I’ve had my Behold for nearly a week now, and I love it! Obviously, it could have a few more features in the widget bar (such as weather, like my mom’s Highlight and my sister’s Tap have) but other than that, I have had no major problems and a few minor ones. Even though the touchscreen is hard to type on at first, if you use your nails it works a lot better. I like t9 so that’s what I use and it’s great! I love that you can easily add music from your computer and the camera’s great, too. I don’t think it’s slow at all, not any slower than my 8 MP Kodak. Takes great quality photos for a phone (another reason I chose it). For me, the minor flaws don’t outweigh the great features, so I hope I can enjoy this phone for a long time!

After losing my Samsung Gravity (which I didn’t like anyway), I was debating between the G1 and the Behold. The BIG decision maker for me was the fact that I could text t9 instead of using the full keyboard. I realized when I had the gravity that I wasn’t a fan and never slid the keyboard out. I just got the phone yesterday, but so far I absolutely love it!!! I knew I wanted a touch screen phone (after getting an ipod touch for christmas I fell in love with touch screens). The sensitivity of the screen is exactly like my touch. An issue that a lot of people have mentioned is the phone book slider; I have not had any problems with it at all and have played with it a lot.
The one thing I do not like, which has nothing to do with the phone (well maybe, because it doesn’t have wifi), is how expensive it is to add internet. I already had unlimited texts, so I wasn’t required to add anything else and didn’t. I will just stick with my touch to access the internet when I do not have my laptop with me.
Overall, I think this is a great phone and am happy with choosing it over the G1. I have been playing with it non stop, making calls and also using the mp3 player, and the battery is still going strong! For people with battery problems, I suggest using it straight out of the box and charge it once it’s close to dying. I have done that will every phone except one and have always had great battery life with my phones (except the one I didn’t do that with!). It may not be what the companies suggest, but it has worked great for me every time!
Overall, after

I got the Behold today and after a couple of hours of messing around with it i’m not very amused. It’s captivating look made me choose it over the G1 but now i am beginning to regret my choice. Sure the G1 is chunky but i’ve mesed around with it a bit in stores and it doesn’t lag as much as the Behold does. When trying to scroll the applications keep opening up instead of scrolling down.
The text messaging is similar to standard phones. If you are used to the iPhone’s threaded texts then the G1 is more convenient
The camera is amazing however that’s about the biggest advantage the Behold has over the G1’s 3.1 mega pixel camera.
After being used to the iPhone the touch screen appears to respond a lot slower and is a lot rougher than the G1’s and iPhone’s screen.
If anyone is debating with themselves whether to go for the G1 or the Samsung Behold, I’d say go for the G1 because even though it doesn’t look as stunning as the Behold, it’s software is a lot better and the android market (like the app store on the iPhone) is a definite plus. In the end isn’t it what’s on the inside that counts? lol
