  1. This is my first BlackBerry phone and I must say it’s an awesome device! My husband has a BlackBerry through his work so I got one too. How we can PIN each other, keep in touch via email, etc. while he is away. The Pearl has wonderful reception, great style, great features, etc.

    I highly recommend it!

  2. I’ve had this phone and service(Cingular) 10 days now and am just about fed up. The phone is simply awesome, integrated email in the phone, the size, the user friendly menus, trackball is great, and the method to charge/data transfer is ideal(typical USB cable found with other USB devices, like Canon digital camera).

What I’m done with is Cingular. I currently am a Sprint customer, not the best, but not bad either. I just wanted to try a blackberry, and I’m hooked. But I can’t with Cingular. From the static on almost every call, to the numerous “Call Failed” when trying to make a call to the dropped calls(feweest dropped calls???). I live in the Washington DC area btw, if this matters.

Guess my only options are Tmobile or wait until another carrier gets the Pearl.

  3. I’ve had my Pearl for over 4 weeks now. It was tricky to active on a Blackberry Enterprise Server, but now it works great! Love the size and good looks. This is my first BlackBerry and it’s been really nice to have and the web browser is really fast. It’s a little difficult (small) to read, but if you need something on the web, you got it! Also, the voice activated dialing works really well, especially with my motorola headset. This is TRULY handsfree! Highly recommend the Pearl!

  4. This phone is simply amazing. I’m not a gadget freak & use the phone to make err… phone calls rather than using a multitude of features. The design & finish on this phone is amazing. Sound quality is excellent! Screen is very clear. Syncs very easily with Outlook etc. The sure type feature is very well done. Also note that there are no porting fees if you’re new to Cingular/AT&T.

Finally,I bought the shield from shieldzone.com. It works like magic. I had a problem with all my other phones as I tend to keep it in the same pocket as my house key etc. Hence, all my phone got scratched pretty bad. But now with the little shield protecting my device, not a single itty-bitty scratch so far. Recommend the shield if you have the same scratch & paint chipping problem.

  5. The BlackBerry Pearl 8100, from AT&T, is by far the best phone I’ve ever purchased. I’ve owned this phone for 6 months now and with proper care and the use of the phone case, this phone has maintained perfect working order and has not failed me yet.

By far the most useful features for me are the organizer features; including a calender with scheduled reminders, the notepad for lists and the tasking feature to schedule reminders for tasks; as well as the networking features; email linked directly with Hotmail, providing immediate notifications and full email funcionality, as well as all the popular online messengers.

Another big bonus for myself is the number of applications available for BlackBerrys and compatible with the 8100. Most benificial for me are the MySpace and Facebook applications, providing near full funcionality for those networking sites, as well as notifications.

The bluetooth networking funcionality is effortless. Seemless connection to my computer an unlike my other smartphones, you can leave the bluetooth feature ON while not in use, and it remains idle, not wasting battery. As soon as you access your headset, the phone automatically activates bluetooth.

The 8100 has a sleek, attractive and rugged body. The screen has proven to withstand regular use and I am pleased to announce that the roller mouse ball has more than stood up to the test of time (one of the features I was most worried about).

The camera is of surprising quality, the calls are crystal clear and the keyboard makes messaging quick and accurate. All in all, one of the smarter purchases I’ve made. I most definitely plan on remaining a loyal BlackBerry supporter in the future.

    Enjoy!
